Most costuming stuff is easiest ordered online, as local shops don’t generally carry Flamenco specific items. Local shops will carry character shoes, ballroom and tap shoes but you can get an idea of what those are by following the links below. About Me
Marie Antoinette is a former student of the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts and a graduate of the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of New Mexico studying under Eva Encinias Sandoval and Marisol Encinias with a focus in Flamenco dance & history. She has trained with several dance companies: Yjastros, Jesus Muñoz Co., and is currently with Evolución Latina Bachata Dance team and Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre in Minneapolis. She has taught dance for Albuquerque public schools as a licensed instructor, YMCA, Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre and guest taught at Flamencoworks Inc. She has worked teaching full inclusion science, math and dance in title one schools and nonprofits for decades and left her post as Chair of the Department of Mathematics at South Valley Academy, to work in medical engineeering in Minnesota at Mayo Clinic and Boston Scientific. She holds a Master of the Arts in Teaching from University of Southern California. She has traveled to and lived in Spain, studying with master teachers such as: The Galván family, Torombo, Carmen Ledesma and Carmen Talegona at Amor de Dios. She hopes to expand opportunities to share this beautiful art form to others in her new home of Minneapolis.
